Information technology company SITA has installed its passenger processing infrastructure at Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) in the Czech Republic to support a mobile and touchless passenger experience in the coming years.

The company deployed TS6 Kiosks, which will function along with its SITA Flex, to offer improved agility at the airport.

A total of 35 such kiosks have been installed, enabling passengers to check in conveniently regardless of which carrier they are boarding.

With the help of mobile, self-service and automated technologies on-site and off-site, SITA’s platform will allow the airport to transition from the old passenger journey to a ‘more efficient and seamless’ digital passenger journey.

As a result, travellers in the future will be able to complete numerous steps of their airport journey, including check-in and bag drop from their cell phone or utilising their biometric identity.

The aim is to streamline the passenger flow through the airport and enhance passenger satisfaction.

In a statement, SITA said: “The new SITA TS6 kiosk was the winner of the 2021 IF Design award for the slick, sustainable, and adaptive design, which can be customised to fit with the airport’s brand design and specific customer needs.

“The kiosks are complemented by overhead displays and integrate with SITA Flex and represents the future of passenger processing, providing a consistent user experience across platforms.”

The services of the Cloud-based SITA Flex can be used after an airline creates a cloud-based application.

Subsequently, the airlines can build on or customise the current passenger processing infrastructure and software accordingly.

Last month, SITA teamed up with NEC Corporation and Star Alliance to facilitate a touchless airport experience through biometric self-service touchpoints.

Under this partnership, frequent flyer programme passengers of Star Alliance member airlines will be able to use their biometric ID as their boarding pass across participating airlines and airports.
