The Port of Seattle has announced updates on the current modernisation of Seattle-Tacoma International (Sea-Tac) Airport’s Central Terminal.

Under the $17m upgrade project, the airport will add 10,000ft² of dining and seating space along with ADA accessibility improvements to better serve travellers.

The new modernised Central Terminal is expected to partially re-open by next year. Additionally, five restaurants will open on the south side of the terminal.

The restaurants include Pei Wei Asian Diner, Lucky Louie, Pallino’s, Evergreens, and Koi Shi Sushi Bento.

Salty’s at the SEA and BrewTop Social restaurants will be located at the north end of the Central Terminal and provide a full-service seafood restaurant featuring a true Pacific Northwest menu with fresh, local ingredients on the lower level.

Sea-Tac Airport’s dining and retail redevelopment are set to boost the business opportunities at the airport as well as provide more revenue to the Port, which goes directly back into airport operations.

The airport served 46.9 million travellers and processed more than 425,800 metric tonnes of air cargo last year.

With a regional economic impact of more than $22.5bn in business revenue, it created over 151,400 jobs.

Around 28 passenger airlines serve 87 non-stop domestic destinations and 23 global cities.
