Oman Airports, which manages all airports in the country, has launched a Covid-19 vaccination campaign for all its employees.

The move is aligned with the government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

The campaign will include all workers in Oman Airports, ground handling and cargo, who are eligible for the first dose.

Additionally, the vaccination drive will include the employees of Muscat International Airport (MCT), Sohar Airport (OHS) and Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) Airports at KIMS Clinic in Muscat Airport.

The Duqm Airport’s (DQM) workers will be vaccinated at KIMS Clinic while the Salalah Airport’s employees will be vaccinated at Lifeline Hospital.

Oman Airports has also established multiple health and administrative requirements to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign.

Oman Airports Support Services vice-president Abdullah Bin Saleh Al-Yafaei said: “Through this campaign and under the full supervision of the Ministry of Health agencies, we seek to encourage our staff to take the vaccine as part of our continuous efforts to go back to our normal operations base and create a safe working environment for employees.”

Recently, National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) in Oman reported quarterly passenger figures at airports.

In the first three months of the year, Oman’s airports (Muscat International, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm) have served just over one million passengers.

This represents a decrease of 71.9% compared to the same period a year ago.

The number of flight movements through these airports touched 8,191 in the first quarter of the year, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported citing the NCSI statement.
