Aéroports de Paris (AdP) has unveiled a new €580m S4 satellite boarding lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport’s 2E terminal.
The 100,000m² facility is expected to serve 7.8 million international passengers from Air France and other SkyTeam airlines.
The new S4 also features 6,000m² of retail space, duty-free shops, restaurants and bars, in addition to a 25,000m² boarding lounge space, which is equal in space to 128 tennis courts.
S4 also includes a 3,000m² lounge dedicated to business class passengers of Air France, designed by Brandimage together with Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.
Air France chairman and CEO Alexandre de Juniac said that the launch of satellite S4 and the Air France lounge marks a turning point in the history of the airline’s hub.
"We are continuing to invest to guarantee all our passengers even more efficiency, fluidity and quality of service," Juniac added.
According to AdP, a Clarins well-being area in the lounge allows passengers to relax prior to their flight with wi-fi access, digital tablets and computers.
The new satellite also features water walls and wooden patios, as well as inside and outside plant walls, while the airport is planning to add a museum that includes original artwork from across Paris.
In May 2012, passenger traffic at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport declined 0.1% to 5.3 million, over the same period in 2011, while the airport reported a 3% rise in passenger traffic to 24.1 million during the initial five months of 2012.
