The UK’s Manchester Airport has partnered with Chinese carrier Juneyao Air to establish air connections to Shanghai, China.

The move marks Juneyao Air’s first service in the UK. The airline will operate its flagship Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from the airport thrice a week.

The service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays via Helsinki in Finland.

The flights will land at Manchester at 08:30 local time and leave for Shanghai at 10:00.

The Dreamliner offers passengers both business and economy class.

Juneyao Air chairman Wang Junjin said: “Juneyao Air is delighted to launch its first fifth-freedom route to Manchester, and we look forward to developing Manchester’s traffic growth in the coming years.

“This route will further promote Greater Manchester’s tourism, as well giving Britain an opportunity to boost its trade and investment links to China.”

Earlier this month, Manchester Airport Group (MAG) opened PremiAir, a private terminal for commercial airlines at Manchester Airport.

MAG also announced plans to open ‘aerozones’ as part of an initiative to connect its airports with local communities.
