Manchester Airport has announced its plans to reopen Terminal 3 on 1 July with social distancing measures in place.

Airlines that will return to Terminal 3 from next month are British Airways, Ryanair, Air France, KLM, Eastern Airways, and Loganair.

Terminal 1 was reopened on 25 March. The terminals were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A range of safety measures at the airport have been put in place, including deep cleaning, conducting temperature checks, and urging passengers to wear face coverings.

Pre-booked security slots at Manchester Airport, which is the third largest airport in the UK, are also being trialled since last week.

With this move, Manchester Airport became the first airport in the UK to offer a pre-booking system for security to keep passenger queues shorter.

Passengers can now reserve a 15-minute window to use a dedicated lane so that they can directly go to a checkpoint in a bid to cut down queue sizes.

Manchester Airport chief operating officer Brad Miller said: “We’ve been trialling a lot of safety measures for the last month to ensure they are appropriate and firmly in place ahead of airlines ramping up their operations.

“We are confident we have the right mix of things in place to facilitate safe travel and allow passengers to fly with confidence.”

Emirates, Eastern Airways and Swiss Airlines are among a range of carriers that have either announced or restarted some of their operations from Manchester Airport.
