London City Airport in the UK has planned to resume commercial operations from the end of this month.

In March, London City Airport halted all commercial and private flight operations temporarily amid the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK.

It is expected that flights to major UK cities and regions will resume first, however, further details are expected to be announced with the airline partners.

International flights will commence early next month and it is expected that the date will depend on the quarantine requirements for incoming international passengers.

Staff at the airport have worked to ensure that the terminal is ready to accept passengers and provide a safe and speedy journey experience.

The airport has also made progress on the construction projects for the major development programme while following the government guidance.

Key airside projects such as aircraft stands, the parallel taxiway and new immigration and baggage facilities were focused on when the airport was closed.

The airport has also installed temperature checking technology in departure and arrival areas, provided staff with face masks and visors, along with clear instructional signage.

The airport will also carry out rigorous and thorough cleaning routines with the use of an anti-bacterial surface treatment.

Passengers will have to maintain social distancing in the terminal and the airport plans to begin the use of a solution developed by CrowdVision.

This solution can detect the areas that have a high passenger concentration, and they can be directed to quieter areas.
