Kuwait International Airport will use Microsoft’s Cloud solutions of Azure to modernise its operations after a partnership was formed between the companies.

The airport, which is managed by the government’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Passenger, has seen traffic grow steadily over the last few years.

DGCA has deployed Microsoft solutions to become future ready to handle 25 million passengers per annum and deal with the frequent changes in the aviation industry.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation IT operations manager Mohammad Al-Mutairi said: “The Government of Kuwait wants to better address issues that many international airports face: high traffic, long lines, and inefficient gate assignments.

“By implementing the latest Microsoft technology, the Kuwait International Airport will further enhance its servicing competences.”

Microsoft Azure Cloud will enable the DGCA to collect, manage and evaluate airport data, and transform them into actionable business intelligence and data visualisations.

DGCA is planning to implement Azure Machine Learning in a bid to automate the decision-making process that can increase human ingenuity and decrease the risk of any possible errors.
