John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport’s Terminal 4 has collaborated with passenger measurement and analytics solution CrowdVision to revamp operations, layouts, and processes across the terminal.

The passenger flow management technology will help to optimise operations, lessen congestion, and predict the deployment of extra staff to manage more than 21 million annual passengers who pass through the terminal annually.

Set to be deployed by the end of this year, the solution is a combined form of CrowdVision measurement solution and Copenhagen Optimization’s Better Airport modelling product.

CrowdVision gathers data and delivers it to Better Airport, which is then used to produce precise forecasts to plan for assigning resources and optimising operations.

“With passenger counts continuing to soar, the capabilities provided by the CrowdVision solution will allow us to accommodate the rising volume.”

T4 is operated by JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT).

JFKIAT president and CEO Roel Huinink said: “We are proud to partner with CrowdVision to enhance the passenger experience and remain at the forefront of the industry by employing the latest technology and innovation.

“With passenger counts continuing to soar, the capabilities provided by the CrowdVision solution will allow us to accommodate the rising volume in the most efficient and proactive way possible.”

The technology will be largely deployed at curbside, in the departures area, and at security checkpoints.

The technology will help manage passenger and vehicle arrival congestion, ensuring that check-in desks of airlines and other partners are staffed and accelerate wait times in the general and TSA Pre-check lines.

CrowdVision founder and CEO Fiona Strens said: “Terminal 4 is a very exciting new customer for CrowdVision. The vision and quality of its leadership team are exceptional and we look forward to collaborating to optimise the terminal for passenger experience, operational efficiency and shareholder value.”
