London’s Heathrow Airport has introduced high-speed Wi-Fi across all terminals after it collaborated with American internet services provider Boingo.

Passengers will now be able to use the internet at speeds of up to 100Mbps and can use the service to quickly buy last-minute travel insurance, pre-order groceries for the return home, or for any other task.

Based on the Passpoint1 technology, the new service offers a secure Wi-Fi experience. It will allow users to seamlessly roam between Wi-Fi and cellular to enjoy a better-connected experience.

Heathrow has invested in modernising its wireless network to provide the required bandwidth capacity across the airport.

“This is just one of many initiatives that Heathrow has invested in to serve and delight our 80 million passengers, making Heathrow a world-class airport.”

As part of the collaboration with the airport, Boingo has installed two new high-speed internet links.

Passengers who are already members of the Heathrow Rewards Loyalty Program will be entitled to earn 100 points when they sign in to the new Wi-Fi with their rewards account.
