GSRM, a joint venture (JV) between Garenne Construction Group and Sir Robert McAlpine, has been selected by Ports of Jersey as its preferred contractor to undertake the preconstruction services of the future redevelopment project at Jersey Airport.

Garenne Construction is a Channel Islands based contractor, while Sir Robert McAlpine is a building and civil engineering company in the UK.

On behalf of Ports of Jersey, Group Capital projects director, Steve Tanner, who is overseeing the Future Airport project, said: “Following a comprehensive tender exercise, we are pleased to confirm the appointment of GSRM under a pre-construction service agreement.

“GSRM blends comprehensive local and UK supply chain experience with strong, relevant aviation expertise. Ports of Jersey is looking forward to working with GSRM through the next stages for our Future Airport redevelopment project.”

“The project is expected to generate opportunities for the Jersey construction market as well as the supply chain from off-island.”

Pursuant to the terms of the contract, GSRM has started collaborating with the Ports of Jersey project team on the detailed final design, including phasing strategies and the programme of work.

The work is slated to commence before the end of this year and is expected to complete in up to three years.

Furthermore, the project is expected to generate opportunities for the Jersey construction market as well as the supply chain from off-island.

GSRM board director Peter Munn said: “Our island-based team will soon be interfacing with the market to develop proposals and ensure that we bring the best out of both the Jersey and UK supply chain.

“We are very excited as an integrated joint venture to use our combined knowledge and experience, both in Jersey and the aviation sector, to work with the client project team in bringing this project to life”.
