Brazilian airline GOL has accelerated the check-in process of passengers at Rio de Janeiro International Airport with the new self-service bag-drop technology, Scan&Fly.

SITA’s Scan&Fly enables passengers to check in their baggage in 40 seconds when flying domestically from the airport.

GOL operations vice-president Sergio Quito said: “GOL has always pioneered the use of innovative processes. Self-service is important for us because it improves the customer experience and helps streamline our operations.

“SITA’s self bag-drop technology provides what we look for – it is fast, reliable and easy to use.”

In addition, the airline is planning to deploy the Scan&Fly units at São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport.

“SITA’s self bag-drop technology provides what we look for – it is fast, reliable and easy to use.”

SITA has also offered consultancy to integrate the solution into the infrastructure of airlines and airports, as well as 24/7 support through its command centres, which will detect issues and avoid passenger disruption.
