Air traffic control and air traffic management solution provider Frequentis Comsoft has installed a flight plan software known as Gateway for UK air traffic management provider NATS.

The flight plan software will connect information from the Eurocontrol Integrated Flight Plan Processing System (IFPS) and National Airspace System (NAS).

The solution will help decode the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) format flight plans and related messages for NATS Flight Data Processing System.

NATS supply chain director Tim Bullock said: “NATS chose Frequentis Comsoft to provide this essential gateway based on our good past experience, coupled with our technical team’s expert assessment of the suitability of their proven technology.

“We are pleased to be working with long-term customer NATS, supporting them in their goals for a reliable and efficient service.”

“Our teams worked successfully together to ensure that the solution was installed in an efficient and timely manner with minimal disruption, ensuring it will meet our goals for greater productivity, whilst continuing to ensure we provide a safe and highly resilient air traffic management service for our customers.”

NATS stated that its existing Flight Plan Reception Suite Automation (FPRSA) system was going to expire and so an interim replacement was required to continue its reliable and efficient service until its SESAR programme becomes fully operational.
