Fraport has reported that 2.1 million passengers travelled through Frankfurt Airport in March, marking a decline of 62% compared to the same month last year.

Frankfurt Airport’s total flight movements last month totalled 22,838, a decline of 45.7% compared to the same period last year.

The total cargo handled was 167,279t, a decrease of 17.4% compared to March 2018.

In the first three months of this year, the total passenger numbers decreased by 24.9%.

This significant decrease in numbers was attributed to travel restrictions imposed by other countries, along with the decrease in demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The sharp hit to passenger numbers was slightly softened by the number of repatriation flights for Germans stranded abroad.
