Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) is set to introduce Automated Passport Control (APC) self-service kiosks at its onsite US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility.

The new APC kiosks accelerate entry to the country through an automated process that eliminates the need to handwrite a customs declaration form.

Passengers will be assisted at the self-service kiosks to declare their citizenship, submit their documents, and complete the administrative portion of the process.

The APC kiosks can be used by US citizens and Canadians, as well as travellers residing in Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries.

In order to use the kiosks, travellers are required to enter the same information as the customs declaration forms.

After scanning their passport and fingerprints, travellers need to confirm their flight number and take a photo.

A receipt is provided by the kiosk to present to a CBP officer at the check-out point.

VWP travellers should have Electronic System for Travel Authorizations (ESTA) approval and have visited the US after 2008 to be able to use the new kiosks.

FXE also introduced a Global Entry kiosk, which allows pre-approved, low-risk travellers to expedite entrance into the US upon arrival.

FXE houses more than 1,050 aircraft and handles nearly 170,000 flights a year.
