Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, Russia, has implemented precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus in the country.

The measures follow the directions issued by the Operational Headquarters of the Government of the Russian Federation to prevent the import and spread of Covid-19, the Decree of the Mayor of Moscow and the Decree of the Governor of the Moscow Region.

The airport has added bright floor markings at check-in lines, pre-flight inspection zone, passport control zone and baggage claim area indicating a distance of 1.5m to ensure social distancing between passengers.

The airport has installed information manuals at the arrival areas. The manuals, titled ‘Arrived from abroad? Stay at home’, offer guidance on staying at home when sick. The QR code redirects to the e-sick leave registration page.

Additionally, all rooms at the airport are also being disinfected and wet cleaned more frequently.

At Terminal F, the airport has applied a special coating that is infused with a disinfectant at the terminal exits to disinfect the shoes of the passengers.

Last week, Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow announced its plans to close arrivals and departures at Terminal D from 1 April amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The airport stated that the measure was implemented due to the reduced passenger traffic, as well as the travel restrictions imposed on international air transportation.

Domestic flights operated by Aeroflot, Rossiya Airlines, Ikar, Nordwind Airlines, Severstal and Ural Airlines will operate from Terminal B and all international flights will operate from Terminal F.

Passengers who arrive at Terminal F will undergo triple medical control.

Sheremetyevo Airport stated: “Instructions for passengers arriving from countries with an unfavourable epidemiological situation, along with telephone numbers of the ‘hot lines’ that have been established are available on the Sheremetyevo Airport website in the ‘News for Passengers’ section.

“SIA JSC implements in full all measures necessary to combat the spread of coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation in accordance with the instructions and recommendations of state bodies and medical institutions.”

Earlier this week, Moscow Domodedovo Airport implemented precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus in the airport.
