Clear has deployed its biometric security lanes at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in the US in a bid to provide faster processing experience to passengers.

With the rollout at MSY, Clear is currently available at 27 major airports, including John F Kennedy International Airport.

The biometric security scanners are intended to help more than 12 million passengers annually passing through the airport. At the terminal’s security checkpoints, passengers need to have their fingerprints or eyes scanned to authenticate their identity in order to board their flights.

Clear operations senior vice-president Gina Bruzzichesi said: “Clear is excited to be launching at MSY during New Orleans’ Tricentennial, and proud to support the local economy by creating as many as 40 new jobs in the region.

“At the terminal’s security checkpoints, passengers need to have their fingerprints or eyes scanned to authenticate their identity in order to board their flights.”

“Clear is focused on revolutionising the way we live, work and travel, and we look forward to helping our airport partners and local officials build a bridge to New Orleans’ next 300 years.”

In order to use the new services, passengers are required to register with Clear, which then connects their identity to their biometrics.

The intention is that passengers registered with Clear can go through the dedicated security lanes with less friction and greater predictability. This should result in faster processing once their biometric identification is verified.

Clear announced that its members will soon be able to use biometrics for bag checks, boarding pass verification, Delta Sky Club entry, and flight boarding.
