Singapore’s Changi Airport Group will unveil its S$1.7bn ($1.2bn) retail and lifestyle development known as Jewel Changi Airport on 17 April 2019.

The 10-storey tourist destination will include five floors above ground level and an additional five basement floors. It will feature aviation, travel and lifestyle-related facilities for international visitors.

The tourist destination will cover a total area of 137,000m² and will be home to more than 280 shops and food and beverage outlets.

Jewel will feature a glass and steel façade and will be directly connected to Changi Airport’s Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

The retail and lifestyle development will feature a four-storey, lush green Forest Valley, which is said to be one of the largest indoor collections of plants in Singapore.

“We are excited to bring a new dimension to the travel and leisure experience of our visitors.”

Rain Vortex will be the main attraction of the complex. At over 40m high, it is claimed to be the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

Jewel will also also open its own 130-room hotel called YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport.

The facility was designed by a team of consultants including Safdie Architects and led by architect Moshe Safdie, along with architects RSP and Benoy.

Changi Airport Group corporate and marketing communications group senior vice president Ivan Tan said: “Jewel is set to be a unique destination, like no other.

“It offers a mix of lush greenery, a scenic waterfall, incredible retail offerings and family play attractions that together make for an unrivalled experience.

“We are excited to bring a new dimension to the travel and leisure experience of our visitors.”

Other highlights of Jewel include a Canopy Park, with play attractions, gardens, walking trails, and dining outlets.
