Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, the US, has rolled out a readiness and safety programme, named BDL Cares, as part of its efforts to keep passengers, visitors and employees safe against the Covid-19 disease.

As part of the programme, the Connecticut Airport Authority has implemented a range of measures at the airport, including additional cleaning and sanitisation efforts and the installation of hand sanitiser stations.

In addition, flexiglass shields are being installed at high passenger interaction points throughout the terminal, along with floor markings and other graphics to remind passengers of physical distancing.

The airport has also made face covering mandatory for all employees, passengers and visitors in accordance with CDC age and medical guidelines.

New measures such as modified seating and added cleaning protocols are introduced for the airport’s restaurants and shops.

Take-out options continue to be in place with new physical distancing and protective measures in place, the airport noted.

The passengers are now allowed by TCA to carry hand sanitiser container up to 12 ounces, until further notice. The TSA is also allowing passengers to wear face coverings during the screening process.

Connecticut Airport Authority executive director Kevin Dillon said: “Our number one priority is always the well-being of our passengers and the entire Bradley International Airport community. With that in mind, at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we implemented additional cleaning and sanitisation protocols to prevent the spread of germs at Bradley International Airport.

“Now that we are starting to anticipate the gradual return of passengers, we are taking it a step further with the implementation of this comprehensive programme to include additional cleaning, physical distancing procedures, and other measures intended to keep everyone safe.”

The launch of the BDL Cares programme comes as Connecticut is gradually reopening its economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
