BAM Group has been selected by the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) to build two multi-storey car parks (MSCP) as part of the capital delivery framework with a combined value of about £60m.

Under the first agreement, the BAM Construction North West is constructing a meet and greet MSCP scheme at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 at Manchester Airport.

It will be developed with an investment of £34m. The first section of facilities will be ready by August, with expected completion in April next year. It will provide enough spaces to park 6,500 cars.

Under the second contract, BAM Construction’s South East team will build a parking facility at Stansted Airport with an investment of approximately £26m.

The facility will be able to accommodate 2,500 cars. The five-level car park has been designed by Pascal and Watson, and is scheduled to be completed in May next year.

“We were able to assist the client to evolve the design in partnership to get it ready to commence on site and deliver much-needed car parking.”

BAM framework lead and North West pre-construction director Adrian Blackie said: “We have delivered a diverse range of schemes under the MAG framework. This shows our versatility across sectors and our ability to work collaboratively to fulfil the client’s brief.

“The T1 and T3 multi-storey scheme went through a patient design refresh. We were able to assist the client to evolve the design in partnership to get it ready to commence on site and deliver much-needed car parking for the summer of 2018.”

BAM has helped complete 11 schemes under the Manchester Airports Group capital delivery framework agreement.

BAM South East construction director Brian Connor said: “This is a great opportunity for the region to demonstrate its ability to work on an airport scheme and it’s very pleasing to see the confidence that MAG has in BAM now producing work outside Manchester too.”
