French robotics firm B2A Technology has acquired Glidepath, an airport baggage and parcel handling systems company based in Auckland, New Zealand.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The company is said to employ more than 300 engineers, controllers, software designers and programmers across the world.

The combined entity will employ more than 900 staff in ten countries over five continents.

Glidepath owner and executive chairman Ken Stevens, who will leave the company after the acquisition, stated that the acquisition was at the correct time for the business and him.

Stevens said: “The sale will allow Glidepath to build on its strong performance and prospects with a new owner who has the right synergies, capabilities and customer centric values to step up and take the business to the next level of growth.”

Glidepath group general manager Natalie Bilyard said: “We will be able to co-develop market-leading products, software and services for global clients and expand our markets and competitive appeal of what is shaping up to be a fast emerging, world-class technology group.”

Last week, IT provider for air transport industry SITA acquired Software Design, an Italian firm specialising in custom software solutions for airports.

In October, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) acquired Farnborough Airport in the UK from a consortium of private investors.
