ADB Safegate has concluded the takeover of airport IT systems and data analytics solutions provider Ultra Airport Systems (AS) to create a total airport management capability.

The agreement was originally signed in November last year for a purchased price of around $22m.

The acquired entity has been rebranded as ADB Safegate Airport Systems.

ADB Safegate has combined Ultra’s airport IT solutions with its integration and services expertise to become a total airport management (TAM) solution provider.

“About 150 airports and 100 airlines currently use Ultra AS software.”

The deal will further strengthen ADB Safegate airport systems and data analytics capabilities and enable airports to deploy emerging digital technologies for better operational efficiency.

ADB Safegate will also develop solutions related to operational performance, flight information displays, billing, baggage management, and situational awareness.

During the signing of the agreement, ADB Safegate CEO Christian Onselaere said: “As well as combining Ultra AS’s airport systems expertise and experience with ADB Safegate’s airport performance approach, we have set up a dedicated new TAM business unit to develop advanced analytics solutions. We have a real opportunity to become a leader in this exciting field.”

UK-based Ultra AS also has offices in South Africa, the US, China, and France, and will now join ADB Safegate’s 35 offices across the globe.

Ultra AS managing director Sébastien Jodeau said: “About 150 airports and 100 airlines currently use Ultra AS software. We are confident these numbers will rise as ADB Safegate, which works with more than 2,500 airports in 175 countries, helps the team extend its global reach.”
