Finnair offers biometric boarding at Los Angeles International Airport
Finnair began offering biometric boarding with Vision-Box technology at Los Angeles International Airport. This facility enables passengers to fly out of the country without showing their boarding passes or passport.
With a simple glance at a high-resolution face capture camera at the eGate, the face gets recognised biometrically in a matter of few seconds.

The image is securely sent to the CBP Traveler Verification Service (TVS), which then carries out a matching process with the stored digital facial token captured at the initial immigration process.
British travellers prefer window seat when flying, finds poll
The window seat on planes is the most popular, with 61% preferring it when flying, a survey of 2,000 British travellers has revealed.
One third (31%) preferred the aisle seat, while only 2% preferred the middle seat.
About 83% of those who preferred the window seat did so to enjoy the incredible views on the flight. About 64% of them even said they are ready to pay extra for the window seat.

Singapore-based Changi Airport now has 14 new body scanners across four terminals in order to boost security.
The body scanners detect items even if they are concealed under clothing. These scanners help to reduce screening time, enabling travellers to move quickly in the busy airport.
Four scanners were initially installed at Terminal 4 when it opened in October 2017.
Hamad International Airport begins second Smart Airport phase

The US Transportation Security Administration checkpoint at Miami International Airport was equipped with a computed tomography (CT) scanner.
The new scanner provides enhanced explosive detection capabilities at the checkpoint.
The system makes use of sophisticated algorithms in the detection of explosives by creating a 3D image that can be viewed and rotated on three axes for thorough visual image analysis by a TSA officer. If a bag requires further screening, TSA officers will inspect it to ensure that a prohibited item is not contained inside.
