Infrastructure investment company Ventus and Sky Logistica have acquired Prague-based air cargo infrastructure company Skyport.

Skyport is claimed to be the leading cargo handler at Prague Airport (PRG) in the Czech Republic. Besides, it has a presence in Bratislava and Kosice in Slovakia.

It operates in a semi-automated airside cargo handling facility, which was purchased by the Singapore-based Elite Logistics Fund in connection with the Skyport takeover.

The company is claimed to process more than half of all air cargo passing through Prague airport.

Ventus CEO Andy Popovich stated: “The last twelve months have proved the importance of air cargo infrastructure as a strategic component of global trade.

“Investing in automated facilities and modern operations is the future of this industry and we are excited to work with our institutional capital partners to further invest in this asset class.

“Skyport has huge potential for growth and we are focused on optimising the existing facilities and unlocking additional capacity by deploying technology to enhance operations.”

US-based Ventus is an infrastructure investment and asset management firm and focuses on investing in air cargo and robotic industrial infrastructure mainly in Europe and North America.

In November last year, Prague Airport received the international ACI Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) certificate for implementing a number of high-level protective measures to ensure increased safety of passengers and airport employees.

The accreditation certificate confirms that the set processes, measures and individual steps applied at Prague Airport meet the requirements and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Airports Council International (ACI).
