SITA has announced details of a high-tech acquisition designed to put the air transport IT provider in a leading position in the area of mobile resource management solutions for efficient airport operations.
WorkBridge, based in Copenhagen, Denmark is now part of SITA’s airport solution division. The software developer is a leader in the field of mobile resource management solutions for the airport handling market and its solutions are used by global operators around the world.
Francesco Violante, CEO of SITA, said: “This is a major strategic initiative for SITA as we focus on delivering solutions that improve our customers’ operational efficiencies. WorkBridge is the technology leader in airport resource management and its solutions complement SITA’s mobile workforce solution, launched earlier this year.
“We are now in a unique position to compete in the market as a leading provider that offers a complete end-to-end solution to help transform the efficiency of airport operations.”
Successful airport ground handling requires quick decision-making combined with sophisticated capacity and resource management; the effective use of IT plays an essential role in achieving this. WorkBridge’s solutions coupled with SITA’s mobile workforce solution, which enables airport workers to get the most up-to-date information on the ground, will accelerate the delivery of SITA’s ‘intelligent airport’ vision. The combined offering will improve communications in airport operations, provide real-time updates to a mobile workforce and enable more effective planning and allocation of resources.
Erik Sørensen, CEO of WorkBridge and now product director SITA WorkBridge, said: “We have experienced strong growth since we founded the company seven years ago and by joining SITA we can benefit from its air transport expertise and global reach while maintaining our tradition, one that we share with SITA, for excellent service, deep expertise, and solutions our customers can depend on.”
SITA WorkBridge offers resource management solutions designed to link people, equipment and back office systems to improve planning, operational efficiency, staff management and customer service levels for ground handling management at airports.
