Dyson offers a range of innovative hand dryers, lighting, and air quality solutions for use in airport terminal buildings.
Our engineers develop products for transport hubs and businesses using the latest technology to help improve the experience for visitors. Dyson hand dryers are designed to optimise space and improve hygiene in airport toilets. Our task lighting and air purifiers are aimed at enhancing comfort for visitors and employees.
Dyson’s Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryer is an advanced solution that combines a tap and hand dryer in a single touch-free unit. In as little as 14 seconds, the unit uses high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtered air to dry hands.
The Airblade Wash+Dry has a complete multi-function design that allows airports to save space in toilets and improve hygiene. Users do not have to move to a separate area to dry their hands, which avoids floors becoming wet.
In 2006, Dyson engineers developed an advanced hand dryer based on Airblade™ technology that was introduced in 2006. This was almost a century after paper towels were first used for hand drying in 1907. Electric hand dryers were later created in 1948 but both of these conventional hand drying methods can be expensive, unhygienic and harmful to the environment.
Airblade Wash+Dry hand dryers save up to 69% in costs. They also produce up to 74% less CO₂ than other hand dryers. Compared to paper towels, Dyson’s hand dryers cost up to 97% less to run and offer a 71% reduction in CO₂. Dyson’s CSYS task light offers precise control over its positioning, which helps provide optimal lighting conditions. The light has glare control and touch-sensitive dimming, allowing each unit to be individually controlled.
CSYS lighting uses advanced LED technology with an effective cooling system, which allows it to maintain brightness for longer periods of time. This helps provide appropriate lighting conditions for passenger areas and working spaces in airports to avoid eyestrain and headaches associated with poor lighting.
Dyson’s Pure Hot + Cool is an innovative air purifier and heater that uses Air Multiplier™ technology to improve air quality in airports.
According to a study from the European Respiratory Journal in 2012, indoor air pollution can be five times worse than outdoors. The Pure Hot + Cool purifies air and controls the temperature at the same time, helping enhance comfort and air quality indoors.
