ITW GSE AXA Power 400Hz Solid-State and Pre-Conditioned Air Units for Aircraft

ITW GSE AXA Power is the world’s leading supplier of solid-state ground power units (GPUs) and pre-conditioned air units (PCA) for airlines and airports with more than 7,000 units in operation worldwide. The company was founded in Denmark in 1924. In 2000, AXA Power joined the ITW GSE Group. ITW GSE AXA Power continuously seeks to improve its products. Developments are based on experience, customer feedback and collaboration with major aircraft manufacturers.

Complete solutions for ground support

AXA Power provides complete ground support equipment (GSE) solutions, including 400Hz and pre-conditioned air, no matter what your specific needs are. We are happy to assist right from the planning phase, and provide expert project management and after-sales service, in addition to supplying your equipment.

AXA 2400 Compact solid-state Ground Power Unit

The world’s most unique GPU provides:

  • 400% overload
  • Unique voltage quality at the aircraft plug
  • Clean input power

At ITW GSE, we monitor the market and are at the forefront of new aircraft requirements.

The AXA 2400 compact GPU is the safe choice for the supply of modern aircraft. As the only GPU in the market, it has 400% overload at output! Also, it provides 90kW continuous at an ambient temperature of 56°C.

The AXA 2400 Compact is equipped with the patented Plug & Play system. Therefore, you experience an outstanding voltage quality at the aircraft plug. This is what matters and what makes your aircraft accept the voltage from the GPU.

The Plug & Play means that the AXA 2400 Compact fulfills the stringent requirements of most installations as it compensates for long symmetrical output cables, unbalanced loads as well as various power factors.

The magnetic wave-shaping topology ensures a clean input power with a unity power factor and a current THD less than 5%.

Benefits of the AXA 2400 Compact GPU

The AXA 2400 Compact frequency converter offers many outstanding features including a simple user interface which makes operator training and easy task.

  • Extremely easy operation and set-up
  • Maximum personal safety
  • Suits all types of aircraft incl. A380, A350, B787
  • Easy access for cable connection and vital components

AXA Power Coil

AXA Power is the first in the market to offer and promote a combined ground power unit and a cable retriever – named the AXA Power Coil.

Incorporating a 90kVA GPU and a cable retriever in one and the same cubicle, the AXA Power Coil offers a considerable cost saving, particularly on installation, as it is delivered on-site fully factory-tested, thus reducing commissioning time to the minimum. Together with its compact design and low weight – approximately 40% less than traditional ‘individual’ systems – the AXA Power Coil provides an elegant and aesthetically pleasing solution to complement any air-bridge, particularly where glass-bridges are preferred.

Benefits include:

  • Easy installation
  • Less stress on passenger boarding bridge
  • Easy operator training
  • Optimum voltage at the aircraft plug
  • High reliability and easy maintenance
  • Quick connection

Pre-conditioned air unit

The AXA Power pre-conditioned air unit sets new standards for PCA. This EU-manufactured PCA – the first modular unit created – is the market’s most innovative, reliable and environmentally friendly PCA ever. The design is based on the ITW GSE group’s experience with PCA, acquired during the past 35 years, in combination with AXA Power’s comprehensive knowledge of controlling and optimizing 400Hz equipment.

The AXA Power PCA is equipped with multiple cooling modules. Quite extraordinarily, each module can easily and quickly be drawn out and replaced by personnel without any specific knowledge of refrigeration. Also, the AXA Power PCA can continue providing cooled air even with one module inactive.

The AXA Power PCA can be installed either as a fixed unit on the ground or hanging underneath the passenger boarding bridge. It provides a supply of fresh and highly filtered air into the aircraft at carefully monitored temperatures. This plays an important role in efficient aircraft turn-around, ensuring a pleasant working environment for staff who are busy getting the aircraft ready, as well as making the plane feel fresh and inviting for the next passengers.
