Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) representatives are currently in Buenos Aires, Argentina, taking part in the Global Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Conference, which runs from 28 to 30 May 2012.
Major international organizations, such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) and Euro-control, are active participants in the conference.
ATNS will be promoting a plethora of tailor-made services at the conference exhibition area that are being offered as part of the company’s state-of-the-art centralised aeronautical database (CAD) technology. These include flight plan (FPL) management, notice to airmen (NOTAM), management, aeronautical information publication (AIP) and published AIP management system (PAMS) and the critical integrated aeronautical fixed telecommunications network (AFTN) and the air traffic services (ATS) message handling services (AMHS) technology.
The aviation industry is adopting AMHS to support future ground-to-ground communications for services, such as digital flight plans, NOTAM and meteorological data. This will eventually replace the older aeronautical fixed telecommunication network (AFTN) based systems. The AMHS standards are specified by ICAO.
ATNS has implemented the CAD System, which is a similar technological and technical aeronautical information management solution, currently used by Euro-control and the European air traffic management (ATM) community. ATNS is now aligned with global ATM initiatives and technologies.
The CAD is a single repository of aeronautical information and has already been implemented in places such as Europe (European Aeronautical Database (EAD)), Canada and Australia.
Since 2006, the Global AIM Consortium has organised a series of global AIM congresses, which started in Madrid, Spain, and ended in Beijing, China, in 2010. The International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Associations (IFAIMA) has recognised the successes of these events throughout the aeronautical community and has organised the 2012 event in partnership with the Argentinean AIM Association.
