Future Fibre Technologies’ senior digital signal processing engineer, Dr Seedahmed Mahmoud, has just published a book ‘Spatial Temporal Propagation Channel for Wireless Communication – Accurate Modelling, Simulation and Analysis.’ It was written by Dr Seedahmed Mahmoud and contributed by Dr Zahir Hussain and explores advanced space-time signal processing in new generations of mobile communication.

“The main topic of this book is the modelling of spatial-temporal channel for wireless communications,” Dr Mahmoud says, “which is of utmost importance in wireless communication and applied signal processing.”

According to one review, the book is insightful and demonstrates quality work on space time channel models.
“It is well written, technically solid and articulates for the reader a grounded conduit for understanding space time mobile channel models and their modelling, validation and application in testing some of the wireless communication systems,” writes J Hanlon. “I would recommend this book to those who study or research in telecommunication and applied signal processing.”

In addition to the just-published book, Dr Mahmoud has written more than 50 technical papers in international journals and for conferences in various areas of electrical engineering.

Dr Mahmoud has applied his expertise in the area of advanced signal processing to develop neural network based intrusion event classification and intruder detection within FFT. He has played a major role in the development of the Artificial Intelligence technology behind the company’s leading fibre optic perimeter intrusion detection systems that eliminate nuisance alarms. In addition, his ground-breaking work at FFT has lead to two international pending patents.

The use of Artificial Intelligence in FFT’s latest perimeter intrusion detection systems allows them to be made highly sensitive to airport perimeter intrusion events without the penalty of nuisance alarms. It’s this type of research and advanced technology that will deliver first class security systems and continue to drive FFT to be the world leader in perimeter intrusion detection technologies in the future.
