With the Middle East’s regional airport network expanding at a considerable rate, a new agreement between Bayanat Airports Engineering and Supplies, the leading airport systems integration provider and Adacel, a leader in the development of advanced air traffic control simulators and automated ATM systems will support and promote this growth through the provision of innovative technology.

According to the UAE general civil aviation authority (GCAA) a growth of nearly 9% in air traffic was observed across UAE airspace in the first quarter of 2011 alone, indicating a need to continue innovation in technology solutions for civil and defense aviation in support of this growth.

The agreement, which positions Bayanat Airports as the exclusive sales representative of Adacel in the United Arab Emirates, will bring advanced simulation technology to the region for air traffic controller training in both civil and defence settings, resulting in increased research, planning and modelling of air traffic procedures within the gulf and the Middle East.

“The rate of travel is increasing almost as fast as the rate of technology today,” said Alain Bourjeily, general manager of Bayanat Airports Engineering and Supplies. “The industry must meet the demands of these increased rates by constantly improving airport and aviation technologies which Bayanat has been a leader of in the region since 1983, working on key projects in all major airports in the UAE and Qatar with top technology partners such as Adacel.”

With Adacel’s longstanding reputation for excellence in its products and services, having been awarded some of the most prestigious programs in its field, the dedication to technology leadership and customer commitment positions Adacel as a world leader.

“Adacel has always been at the forefront of developing innovative technology to support best practice in our clients’ businesses. We welcome the opportunity to partner with Bayanat Airports to bring our world class products and services to the UAE; we expect that our advanced technology solutions will provide the platform for sustained airport growth in the region,” said Adacel CEO, Fred Sheldon.

Investment in airport-related projects is supported across the region, with organisers of the Airport Show estimating that more than AED 220 billion is being invested in developments including AED 40 billion each for the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport and Qatar’s new Doha International Airport.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chairman of Dubai Airports and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, the Airport Show took place from 31 May to 2 June at Dubai’s Airport Expo centre and was supported by leading international industry associations and local government authorities.

Bayanat Airports participated in the Airport Show 2011 alongside ADACEL on stand number CE5 in the central hall.
