Crisplant, a global leader in automated baggage handling and logistics systems, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Klaus Schäfer as managing director, effective from 1 February 2010.

Ranjit Bhabra, who previously held the position, will stay with BEUMER Group, as a member of the Crisplant board of directors.

Schäfer brings a wealth of experience, with 24 years working in the industry at Mannesmann Dematic, Siemens Dematic and Siemens.

In his most recent position of vice-president for airport sales at Siemens infrastructure logistics within the Siemens mobility division, Schäfer was responsible for worldwide sales activities for the baggage and cargo logistics and airport IT solutions businesses. Schäfer has also lived for a period in Singapore and has a complete global perspective from a proven track-record in dealing with Europe, the Americas, the Asian-Pacific region, the UAE and Australasia.

Schäfer is the prime choice for taking Crisplant forward and strengthening its global strategy in product development, integration and customer service.

Working with the BEUMER Group, Schäfer will shape Crisplant’s presence and association with the German family-owned business, strengthening its global position and overall business objectives.

Speaking of his new appointment, Schäfer said, “I am delighted to be taking over from Bhabra, managing director of Crisplant, who had successfully fulfilled the role of transitioning Crisplant from FKI Logistex and overseeing the smooth acquisition from the BEUMER Group. The mission is clear and as an integral part of the BEUMER Group, I am proud to be building on the success so far and shall continue to lead Crisplant from strength to strength.”
