Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) employees are spending the day at the St Francis Care Centre in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Centre takes care of abandoned and orphaned children (ages ranging from a month to seven years), infected and affected by HIV / Aids.

The festive season is traditionally a time to give. The purpose of the visit is to bring joy and happiness to the seemingly forgotten.

St Francis Care Centre offers a residential medical facility for the treatment of AIDS patients, serving the poorest of the poor within the Ekurhuleni Municipality. The Centre also operates two free clinics where counselling and testing is performed. Anti-retroviral and other drug therapy is provided if and when necessary. Palliative care is also rendered to cancer patients of all ages.

The Centre presented ATNS with a ‘wish list,’ which included basic necessities. ATNS is happy to announce that it is presenting the following items to the facility: toiletries, food parcels, baby food, milk formula, clothing and stationery.

Further activities include face-painting and a braai, among others.

As part of the ATNS long-term corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives, ATNS intends to install the ‘nurse call system’ for the wards and bathrooms in this facility. This state-of-the-art equipment will be designed, manufactured and installed by our in-house engineers.

ATNS intends to assist in improving the health and quality of life of the children within our communities, through committed care and attention at all stages in the treatment of the HIV / AIDS pandemic. It is also committed to fighting other ‘societal ills’ such as substance abuse and domestic violence.

ATNS has over the years, been involved in various community outreach projects that include providing much-needed provisions for the mentally handicapped, the physically handicapped and the underprivileged and impoverised communities throughout South Africa.
