This month saw the completion of the major portion of our BagNav installation at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Two of the airport’s baggage halls are now fully equipped with sortation and 100% Hold Baggage Screening (HBS), with the last baggage hall to be completed by the end of the year.

YVR’s baggage tracking module is unique in the industry, providing unprecedented continuous tracking from the moment a bag is placed on the conveyor belt in the terminal to the moment it arrives in the plane’s belly. Previously, tracking was segmented between the sortation, HBS and reconciliation portions of the baggage process.

With this new system, YVR will have the opportunity to track average baggage loading rates, identify trends and opportunities, and ultimately, work with airlines and baggage handlers to get passengers’ baggage to and from aircraft faster.

The successful completion of our 12 month contract with the Airport Authority saw us implement our cutting-edge BagNav system without impacting operations at YVR, reflecting the skill and expertise of both our installers and the Airport Authority’s project team.
