Tolmachevo Airport hosted a meeting on the initial construction stage of a Logistic postal centre (LPC), one of the major investment projects in Novosibirsk Airport’s territory.

Taking place on 6 September, the event was attended by the Governor of the Novosibirsk region Andrey Travnikov, General Director of the FGUP Russian Post Nikolai Podguzov, Director of the macro-region Siberia of the Russian Post Nikolai Novoseltsev, head of the Novosibirsk customs Valery Gukov, General Director of JSC Airport Tolmachevo Evgeniy Yankilevich.

The LPC will serve 11 million residents of the Siberian region. A location of the mail processing centre at the Tolmachevo airport shall allow unloading mail from the boards of the arriving aircraft directly, and this must reduce the time for transportation of mail and delivery to the recipient.

“The new state-of-the-art LPC with an area of more than 45,000m² will be equipped with the most modern post processing equipment, such as automated sorting lines, which will be able to process up to one million shipments per day. In addition, the launch of the logistics postal centre will provide jobs for about 1,300 inhabitants of the region. The new logistics hub will be characterized by a high degree of process automation and the ability to produce both import and export operations for sending parcels and sending goods on customer orders through Russian online stores from specially designated storage areas. Thus, a fulfilment centre will appear in Novosibirsk,” said the head of the Russian Post Nikolai Podguzov.
