Qantas has started operating four new Series 7 Auto Bag Drop units at Sydney Airport’s International Terminal.

These units are in addition to the 12 Series 7 Hybrid Fixed-Desk Auto Bag Drop units and 36 check-in kiosks with ICM’s software that went live in March.

The Series 7 Hybrid Fixed Desk Auto Bag Drop units can be operated in either self-service or agent mode. During self-service mode, all equipment is simply stowed behind an electro-mechanically locked roller door and drawer, whilst the agent desk provides a handy shelf for passenger documents.

In agent mode, a concierge-style passenger / agent interaction is utilised whereby the agent can either sit or stand at the desk, with a monitor mounted on a swivel stand. Both modes facilitate a fast and easy passenger experience.

This is the very first production deployment of ICM’s Fixed Desk Auto Bag Drop units.
