Our programme is designed to highlight excellence within the sector by looking at a range of corporate activities including deals, business projects and company initiatives, both internal and in the community.
What is Social?
The Social category includes companies and institutions that have undertaken projects that have had a tangible positive impact on the communities where they operate. This can include anything from charity initiatives; sponsorship; community outreach; local business support and education initiatives.
Airport technology companies have been focusing their efforts in the social sphere, mainly on noise reduction strategies and SME support.
For example Schiphol and Luchtverkeersleiding Nederland (LVNL) (Air Traffic Control the Netherlands) have added 16 new measures to their comprehensive, multi-annual plan to reduce noise. The plan involves leveraging new aviation technologies, as well as some schedule optimisation measures to be applied in residential areas.
Ireland’s Dublin Airport is another airport authority which has harnessed the power of new technologies to reduce noise disturbance. Their new interactive tool called WebTrak allows them to track the noise levels from any specific flight.
