What is Investments?

The Investments category looks at any significant financial investments into a company or its assets, specifically those investments that facilitate expansion of a company’s operations. This can be an investment by the company itself into its operations or by an outside investor be that another company, financial institution, private equity or venture capital firm.

Themes

Although this research period has been difficult for the airport technology industry due to the covid pandemic and its repercussions, the areas that have traditionally seen a steady flow of investment, like airport security and particularly the screening devices sector, remain strong.

To this group we must add the new field of covid related technologies which predictably has also seen strong investment. This includes technologies such as AI, and touchless solutions, sensor technology as well as some disinfection and passenger flow technologies.  

 Another notable trend is the industry gradually turning away from the implementation of single technologies and opting for more holistic modernisation schemes. This is just one of many signs of the broader IOT operational shift within the industry.
