Global construction and infrastructure company Shikun & Binui has secured a new $309m contract to build an airport in Uganda.

The planned airport will be located in a rural area at the oil-drilling region near Hoima and Lake Albert in north-western Uganda.

Under the contract, Shikun & Binui’s international construction arm SBI will build the airport, which is expected to support the region’s oil industry.

“The project includes the construction of 3.5km of runways, a cargo terminal, and an air traffic control tower, along with other residential and service structures.”

The project includes the construction of 3.5km of runways, a cargo terminal, and an air traffic control tower, along with other residential and service structures.

Associated earthwork and drainage activities. and the building of electro-mechanical, communications and navigation systems are included in the contract.
