Dublin International Airport in Ireland recorded 1.7 million passengers for September 2011, a 3% decline on the corresponding month for 2010.

The drop in traffic was mainly due to a fall in domestic passenger numbers, which declined by 77% with just over 7,000 people taking domestic flights.

Passenger numbers to and from Europe dropped by 3%, with 930,000 people travelling to and from Dublin during September, while passengers from the UK fell by 3% to 575,000.

Transatlantic traffic to North America increased by 12% during September, with over 165,000 people travelling on this route.
