Denver airport to receive funds for runway and baggage system expansion

Denver International Airport in Colorado, US, has secured a $37m grant from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to rehabilitate its runway and improve its baggage screening system.

The airport will receive $22m for airfield maintenance, $11.6m to complete rehabilitation work on runway 8/26, $1.7m to rehabilitate the taxiway system surrounding Jeppesen Terminal and $8.7m for the rehabilitation of runway 16L/34R.

Approximately $15m from the TSA will go towards improving the baggage screening system and the checked baggage resolution areas, which are used for bag processing and checked bag screening.
