New Indonesian airport to open in October

27 September 2011

Indonesia's air transport authorities will open Lombok International Airport (Bandara International Lombok), which is located in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, by 1 October 2011.

Following its opening, the authorities will partially close Selaparang Airport and use it only for chartered flights.

The newly built facility will be spread across 551ha and will have a 2,750m runway to accommodate wide-bodied aircrafts such as the Airbus A 330 and types of Boeing 737 or Boeing 747.

The airport features a 21,000m2 terminal area, which will handle three million passengers a year, as well as a taxiway, an apron, VIP facilities and information facilities.
