Palestine to Build International Airport

27 October 2010

The Palestinian Civil Aviation Authority has announced that it will soon start the construction of an international airport between Jerusalem and Jericho.

The Palestine International Airport will be constructed on a 4km² plot of West Bank land at an investment of €244m ($340m).

Palestinian minister of transportation Sa'di al-Kurunz said work would begin on the plot in the first half of 2011.

To meet international standards, the airport will include a single terminal, six boarding gates and a car park, and handle both passengers and cargo.

Construction will be complete within two years if international donors provide the finance for the project, according to irishtimes.com.
