France has begun its first trial of full-body scanners at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to screen US-bound passengers.
The scanners use millimetric radio-wave-based technology to see objects through passengers' clothes, according to digtriad.com.
The scanners will take less than five seconds to scan a passenger to detect any object, whether metallic or made of plastic.
During the trial period, passengers will have the choice between the new machine or a traditional body search.
France has voluntarily introduced the new safety scanners, after the US requested an upgrade of security measures to check foreign passengers boarding planes heading for the US.
