Dubai Undertakes Airport Capacity Expansion Work

09 February 2010

Dubai Airports is reportedly seeking approval for expansion plans costing billions of dirhams, in spite of the Emirate's $20bn bailout last year.

The opening of the first phase of the airport, which will be built at a cost of $33bn, was due this year but has been pushed back due to construction delays.

The completed airport will have an annual cargo capacity of 12 million tons and will handle all next-generation aircraft, including the Airbus A380 super-jumbo.
