SITA to Upgrade Check-In Services at Suvarnabhumi Airport

26 January 2010

Aviation IT and communications firm SITA will upgrade check-in services at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.

Check-in and boarding across 800 workstations serving 56 airlines will be upgraded to SITA's AirportConnect Open solution which offers the airport a new common-use passenger processing system (CUPPS) platform.

Airports of Thailand Public Company Ltd is working in collaboration SITA and SITA's channel partner Samart Corporation for this project.

SITA's AirportConnect Open supports CUPPS, the existing common-use terminal equipment (CUTE) standard, as well as web and common-use self service (CUSS) kiosk applications.

Airports of Thailand president Serirat Prasutanond said CUPPS would encourage greater take-up of common-use or shared IT infrastructure at airports and bring down costs.

Implementation of the project has commenced, and it is expected to be complete by mid-2010.

There will also be ongoing improvements and upgrades over the next five years at the airport.
