Frankfurt Airport in Germany experienced a 2.3% increase in passenger traffic in December 2009, compared with the same month in the previous year.
Intercontinental traffic rose by 6.3%, contributing to the airport's first increase in passenger figures in 16 months.
Air freight also saw an upward rise of 29.1% during December, recording 174,000t, which is an increase of 7% on November 2009.
The airport recorded 50 million passengers between January and December 2009.
The overall figures for 2009 reveal a decline in air freight, aircraft movements and maximum take-off weights to December.
Aircraft movements declined by 0.9% due to adverse weather conditions.
