Melbourne Airport Uses Advanced Guidance and Control System

15 January 2010

Melbourne International Airport in Australia is now operating the Sensis advanced – surface movement guidance and control system (A-SMGCS) in a bid to improve surface operations.

The advanced technology is designed to enhance the air traffic controller's ability to provide services during visual or low-visibility operations.

It uses multiple surveillance technologies to offer a comprehensive view of the airport's runways and taxiways.

The company is also deploying A-SMGCS at Brisbane Airport, Perth International Airport and Sydney Airport.
