Inter-Roller, one of the world's leading providers of airport logistics systems, has been awarded two contracts to design and install baggage handling systems at Calgary International Airport in Canada and New Quito International Airport in Ecuador.
Calgary International Airport has signed a contract worth C$10m for the installation of the system, which will help increase trans-border baggage handling capacity.
The project covers the design, supply and installation of mechanical, electrical and control systems that integrate with 100% hold bag screening. It includes security tracking, baggage sorting, automatic baggage tag scanning, manual encoding and high-level control systems.
This is Inter-Roller's second project in North America after securing its first project in Winnipeg in 2007. In a recent press release, CEO of Inter-Roller Engineering Oon Chong Howe said the contract offers the company an inroad to the region.
"We will ride on this opportunity and continue to build our presence in this region," he said.
New Quito Airport in Quito City, Ecuador, has awarded Inter-Roller its first ever contract in South America, for $5.8m. The project is expected to be completed in August 2010.
The contract includes the fully integrated design, supply and installation of all mechanical, electrical and control systems.
Built on a mountain plateau, the new airport will have all the facilities that a modern international airport needs and will handle a capacity of 4.5 million passengers per year.
