Tulsa International Airport in the US will modernise its inbound baggage conveyor system after 30 years of service.
The modernisation is part of a three-phase baggage system renovation project, with the second and final phases designed to upgrade the decades-old system.
The first phase, which included the replacement of six baggage carousels, was completed in 2007.
The renovation project has been planned to avoid inconveniencing passengers travelling through the airport.
Once the project is completed in October 2009, the new systems will be capable of handling large and heavy luggage.
The metal cases that cover baggage conveyor belts will be replaced with glass walls allowing people to watch their bags approaching the baggage claim area.
The airport will also install two glass elevators to transport passengers between the ticket counters and the central security checkpoint.
