Kalamazoo Terminal Construction Set for 2011

01 July 2009

The construction of Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport’s new terminal project has begun in the US state of Michigan.

Once construction is completed, the airport will have an expanded security check point, covered passenger boarding and an expanded baggage claim area.

The terminal building will have efficient drop-off and pick-up zones, departure gates designed for easier travel and a modern security system.

The airport has already earmarked $40m for the project and the money will be funded by the Federal Aviation Administration’s discretionary funds.

For the baggage screening system, the airport will spend $3m of stimulus money, which will be collected from passenger usage fees.

The current terminal has a capacity of 40 flights a week and will continue to run until new the terminal is completed.

The project is expected to be complete by early spring 2011.
